To Those Who Claim People Without The Gift Of Tongues Don't Have The Holy Spirit Or Aren't Saved
I've posted about this before. I'm going to do it again. I've seen this topic twice tonight, so I'm going to take that as a signal that the Lord wants me to write a post on this.
A super hot topic anger button exists for me toward those who harm other peoples' faith by saying that if you don't have the gift of tongues that you do not have filling/baptism of the Holy Spirit and/or that you are not saved. 😡
Both of these claims are false, made up, doctrines of men and contradict scripture. If you are one of the people who holds to this doctrine, may the Lord rebuke you for the damage you do to those who do not have the gift of tongues. I urge you to humble yourself, to repent, and to go and apologize to those you have harmed.
1 Corinthians 12:3-11 KJV
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
I BOLDLY DECLARE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD AND SAVIOR, THE SON OF GOD WHO DIED ON THE CROSS FOR MY SINS AND WAS RESURRECTED ON THE THIRD DAY. According to the scripture above, I wouldn't be able to declare this if I did not have the gift of the Holy Spirit. Yet I do not have the gift of tongues.
1 Corinthians 12:28-30 KJV
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? (𝘕𝘖!) are all prophets? (𝘕𝘖!) are all teachers? (𝘕𝘖!) are all workers of miracles? (𝘕𝘖!) 30 Have all the gifts of healing? (𝘕𝘖!) do all speak with tongues? (𝘕𝘖!) do all interpret? (𝘕𝘖!)
I realize that the message of Romans 14 is centered mostly around food, especially food sacrificed to idols but there are a couple of verses in this chapter that apply to what these people are doing.
Romans 14:1 KJV
1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
Romans 14:4 KJV
4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
Romans 14:10-13 KJV
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
1 Corinthians 14:1-12 KJV
1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 5 I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. 6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? 7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? 8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? 9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. 10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. 11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. 12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
