Daniel 4:17 ESV
17 The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, the decision by the word of the holy ones, to the end that the living may know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will and sets over it the lowliest of men.’
Romans 13:1-2 ESV
1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.
The Holy Spirit just hit me with this realization:
A lot of people don't like the leaders that are in positions of power, and I'm included in that. In the US there have been so many people who have said "he's not my President" in regards to whomever won an election, and I'm also guilty of that. We need to repent of that attitude.
I'm not saying we can't disagree with our leaders. I'm not saying we can't voice our concerns, and work together to try to bring about what is right.
But whether we like them or not, whether we feel they cheated or not, whether they're tyrants or not, we have to remember something extremely important: God has placed them where they are and has allowed them to have their positions of leadership, and He has done it for a reason.
Who are we to question God's purpose and plan?
1 Samuel 15:23 ESV
23 For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected you from being king.”
