There is no greater love story than the true story of Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the Son of God and also God. He was present at the time of creation and through Him everything was made (John 1:3). He possesses infinite wisdom, and glory, and power. Everything in heaven and earth was made by Him and for Him.
Jesus gave up glorified body and glorified position in heaven to come to Earth as a human. He came to earth as a servant, preaching the kingdom of heaven, the word of God, and healing the sick, blind, deaf, mute, and lame, resurrecting some who were dead, and casting out demons from those who were possessed. He was penniless; He had no home, and no wealth while He was here in earth; He willingly gave up the riches He had in heaven for awhile. He came to call sinners to repentance.
Jesus rarely got to rest; there were always people around Him, and always people coming to Him seeking a miracle to be performed by His power.
Jesus experienced everything we experience: the weakness of our human bodies, hunger, fatigue, anger, rejection, frustration, annoyance, heat and cold, temptation, weakness, sadness, and betrayal. Before he was arrested he said "the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Matthew 26:41). Yet He never argued, He didn't condemn anyone, and He didn't complain. He merely told the truth and instructed people. He was incredibly long suffering.
Here is where it becomes really beautiful. Jesus fulfilled the law of God, being the only person who was ever capable of doing so. He was innocent and blameless. Fully knowing our condition of sin and that we could in no wise redeem ourselves, and fully knowing what would happen to Him, Jesus allowed Himself to be arrested and falsely accused. He allowed Himself to be chained, mocked, struck, beaten, flayed, marred, flogged, and forced to carry His heavy cross (with the help of a man named Simon because He was too weak to carry it Himself), to be stripped of His clothes, nailed to that cross, and lifted up, already barely able to stand, walk, or breathe, where He would ultimately die the most painful and excruciating death of slow suffocation. He offered Himself up as a righteous sacrifice to die so that we may live, and to shed His precious blood to pay the price for our sins. He took our punishment upon Himself, thereby saving us from God's wrath.
Then Jesus was buried, and on the third day He was resurrected.
Jesus did it all willingly. He turned shame into glory. He broke the chains of sin that bind us with His own blood. He did it all because He loves us so much that He wanted us to be saved. His desire, and the desire of the Father, is that all should come to Him to be saved and that none should perish. What Jesus did on the cross is truly the greatest act of love, grace, compassion, and mercy, and He did it willingly, without accusation, without condemnation, and without complaint.
But most of all, Jesus loves us so much that He will not force us to accept Him. He gave us the path to salvation through Himself. He also gives us a choice, and He will honor that choice.
Friends, choosing Jesus means reconciliation to God, and eternal life in heaven with Him with no more pain, sorrow, crying, or death (Revelation 21:4). Not choosing Jesus means eternal life and torture in hell, forever separated from God, with no hope of escape, and having all of eternity to regret the choice you made; this is known as the second death (Revelation 20:14).
There is so much love and healing available to you and waiting for you in the arms of Jesus, and He is waiting to receive you. If you come to Him He will not cast you out (John 6:37).
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Romans 10:9-10 KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
