It's Time To Examine Ourselves In The Context Of Our Faith

The end of days is approaching quickly. It is time for everyone, including me, to examine their hearts and their lives. It is time for reflection and soul searching. It is time to repent and to turn to Jesus. It's time to root out and cast away the idols in our lives.

2 Corinthians 13:5: KJV

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

(A reprobate is someone who is destined for damnation.)

Anything you worship, or anything that keeps you from pursuing God is an idol. Boy does God hate idols. And He gave a command not to worship them.

Exodus 20:3 KJV

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Leviticus 19:4 KJV

4 Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.

So what is it that keeps you from pursuing God and seeking a relationship with Jesus? Is it money? Is it fame? Your family? Your friends? Material possessions? Church? Sports? Politics? Conspiracy Theories? Work? Pride? Laziness? Fear? Sex? Food? Drugs? Television? Video games? Comfort in your current situation? Alcohol? Anger? The internet? Social media? News? The pursuit of the perfect body? The pursuit of beauty? Hobbies? Rules and laws? Your non-Christian religion? Tradition?

I was and am guilty of so many of these idols. And so is pretty much everybody else.

If you pursue Jesus with all of your heart, you will be filled with more satisfaction, comfort, joy, and peace than you can even begin to fathom. You will be completely satisfied for the first time in your life. The world cannot fill you or comfort you in the way that Jesus can.

How do I know? I found out for myself.

Jesus loves you so much that He died on the cross for you to pay the price for your sins so that through belief in Him, and His work on the cross, you may have eternal life.

Believers in Christ don't want to admit this, but Jesus said not everyone who calls Him Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 7:21-23 KJV

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Let that sink in, and read it again. ⬆

Now read this, think on it, and read it again. ⬇

Matthew 7:13-14 KJV

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

It is beyond time to take this seriously. It is beyond time to change our hearts and minds. It is beyond time to seek a RELATIONSHIP with Jesus, and to spend time reading God's word (the bible) for ourselves rather than relying on others to tell us what it says. It is time to lay everything out for Jesus, to sob in godly and earnest repentance while we are in prayer. It is time to give Jesus more than just a couple of hours in your week. It is time to fully give Him your heart, your life, and your obedience before you find yourself left behind to face the tribulation.

Jesus is worthy and He deserves so much better from each and every one of us.
