We need to wake up to the truth that just because you are a liberal or a conservative, it doesn’t mean that you are a bad person. There are good and bad people from both sides of the aisle.
What SHOULD matter is what we can agree on, and the understanding that we all have the same basic desires and needs. We all need food, shelter, clean water, money to buy the things we need, and then what we want if we have any money left over. We all need to feel loved and to be loved. We all have a fundamental need to belong in a sense.
It is not a bad thing to have a difference of opinion. Our differences in ideas and opinions allow us to discuss and debate, which in turn lead to stronger solutions to our problems through better ingenuity and innovation.
We need to remember there are at least two sides to every story. We need to remember that we may be the one who is wrong. We need to love each other, to help each other, to encourage each other, and to support each other. If we can learn to be kind again, to allow differences of opinion in our lives again, and to cooperate with each other again, then there is NOTHING we can’t accomplish.
I challenge everyone to stop blaming everyone else and to do two things:
1) honestly and genuinely reflect on your own areas of opportunity, on your strengths, and be willing to consider all the arguments, sides, motives and facts behind and of every situation.
2) direct your attention to the people who have been elected into positions, and really pay attention to what they are or aren’t doing, and hold them ACCOUNTABLE for it. If those people don’t do what they promised, if they are corrupt, if they don’t act in the best interest of the people, don’t continue to vote for them. Our elected officials work for us, not the other way around.
May blessings, love, and light surround all of you and your loved ones.
