Have you ever asked to receive the Holy Spirit?
Luke 11:13 KJV
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
I always missed this. I think most people do. It came to my attention recently by someone else. I think it’s extremely significant that Jesus said this.
The Holy Spirit is our comforter, our teacher, our guide. He is the Spirit of Truth and He leads you to all truth. He helps you with your prayers. He helps you to have the discipline you need to avoid temptation. He reproves the world of sin. He gives discernment. He gives spiritual gifts. He seals you with promise until the day of Redemption. He helps you to bear good fruit, and so much more.
So many people say the “sinner’s prayer” and then just go on about their lives. It’s not enough. The Holy Spirit is a crucial component in our spiritual walk with Jesus. He is the guiding force to bring about conviction and change in our lives. Without Him, we don’t have the power to live, walk, and pray in the Spirit, and we can never overcome the temptations of our flesh. Without Him we can never pursue holiness, and without holiness we will not see the Lord.
Hebrews 12:15 KJV
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
