Do We Live What We Believe?

I think in these days that we live in, we trivialize belief.

I think it’s possible that we acknowledge the truth, but we add our own spin to it. Or sometimes we still reject it even knowing it’s the truth.

Our ethos, our value, our moral system is a direct relection of what we truly believe.

Jesus said in Luke 6:45

45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.

I believe out of the what fills ours hearts determines how we live as well as how we speak.

The very next thing Jesus said in Luke 6:46-49 was:

46 “Now why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

47 Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like:

48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when there was a flood, the river burst against that house and yet it could not shake it, because it had been well built.

49 But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; and the river burst against it and it immediately collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”

If we believe in Jesus, if we believe that He came down to earth to die on the cross for our sins so that we may be freed from the bondage of sin, forgiven, redeemed, and set free, then why do we not want to follow the instruction that God gave us in the bible? Why do we downplay Jesus command to be baptized? We do we downplay His command to follow Him? Why do we downplay His command to be disciples and to make more disciples? Why do we downplay His commands at all? Why do we downplay God’s expectation that we seek His righteousness and His holiness in our own lives?

Nowhere in scripture do I see it said that you can pray for Jesus to save you and continue to live your life the way you did before.

My own personal experience with Jesus shows me and tells me that His love will not allow us to remain living in the same sinful lifestyles we were living in when we called upon His name.

This post does not intend to judge anyone, nor does it intend to condemn anyone. It is not my intention to elevate or justify myself or anyone else. I am absolutely no one but a sinner who has tasted that Lord Jesus is good, and this is simply a message He has laid on my heart today.

So I encourage you to live like Jesus. To follow His word. To pursue His holiness and righteousness. To seek to please Him in all that you do. To deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Him as He has asked us to do. To live like you truly believe.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
