Are You Denying God’s Traits Of Judgment, Wrath, And Jealousy? - By Andrew Chase

Written by Andrew Chase (I’m guilty of this too, but I have also posted that God is a God of judgment too.

I think people tend to want to try to persuade others with God’s goodness. And I think people get so focused on His love, goodness, and mercy that it leads them to underestimate and discount His other attributes. It’s a disservice to Him and I think it causes people to create their own version of Him in their hearts.)

God Loves you!

Today we post & see FB posts, millions of them that say “God loves you.”

That’s soo comforting. Even to the Child rapist, the Axe murderer, a Fentanyl dealer, a wife abuser and a terrorist. This “God loves you” removes any conviction of sin or any need to consider repenting or changing your life.

However, Jesus clearly taught that sinners were condemned in sin and would perish and go to hell if they didn't believe in Him as their Savior & repent. (John 3:16-18).

But God loves the world, right? Yes, but also God Hates Wicked People. It’s Biblically true.

Psalm 11:5 puts it bluntly: God hates wicked people. “The LORD tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence” (Psalm 11:5). God hates the sinners ways (Proverbs 15:9), their thoughts (Proverbs 15:26), their worship (Proverbs 15:8), their actions (Proverbs 6:18), and their evil deeds (Psalm 5:5).

- Yes we must prove this in Gods Word.

So we can scripturally prove that God hates the thoughts, deeds, and desires of evil people. But further, in some way he hates the evil people themselves. He reacts to them with revulsion as his arm extends toward them in holy fury.

But who are the wicked? All of us. We are all wicked, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “Just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned” (Romans 5:12).

Hebrews 12:14, "... without holiness no one will see the Lord"?

Holiness cannot exist without repentance & no one becomes a Christian without repentance. It is not enough to hear a sermon or go to a church.

True Faith in Christ leads to confession of your sins (even today) and repentance.

Sin must be confessed and repented of, or Christ will merely be viewed as the safety net to protect us from hell.

Why does God harbor such hatred toward wicked people? God hates the wicked because their wickedness is a mark of rebellion against Him and against his rule. God created humanity to be perfect and sinless, to live in joyful submission to him, to offer him pure worship. But humanity rebelled and sinned.

Sinners caused God the Father to put His only loving Son, onto a Cross to die a horrible torturous death, to pay the price for what us sinners did.

If you allowed your only child Lucy, to die for people and they all wore “Lucy loves me” shirts, yet never apologized for you killing your child for them, and in fact kept on being wicked, would you not hate them justifiably?

God is a good judge. And being a good judge, he hates evil and sentences people for their sins.

We say “But God is love!” Yes but did you know that God is also angry, jealous & vengeful?

Do you ever post those words in Facebook? Why not?

Are we willing to accept the attributes of God that we aren’t so comfortable with—such as Gods vengeance, wrath, and jealousy?

“The LORD your God in your midst is a *jealous God—lest the *anger of the LORD your God be kindled against you, and he *destroy you (wrath) from off the face of the earth.” - Deuteronomy 6:14–15

But God is willing to forgive sinners if they believe & turn from their wicked ways. Then if they believe & repent, they go from being hated to being loved children of God. The blood of Christ on the Cross washes them clean and gives them a new life.
