Church,
As a collective whole, we’re not representing our Lord and Master, our Savior very well. We’re not giving the world anything to see that they don’t already see in their own lives.
I understand that blatantly false doctrines need to be refuted, but we’re (and I’ve been guilty of this too) spending a horrible amount of time arguing over stuff that isn’t even critical to salvation. And we’re so busy fighting each other and dividing ourselves when we need to be united and focusing on winning souls for the kingdom of heaven, being about our Heavenly Father’s business.
I don’t like saying this, but online Christianity has become a cesspool of carnality: envyings, debates, discord and strife. Some of us are absolutely cruel to each other, when we’re supposed to be strengthening and supporting each other, building each other up instead of tearing each other down. It pains me to imagine that our Lord Jesus is looking on in angst.
Do we have to tell people they have no discernment like we’re better than them because we disagree with their selection of worship music?
Do we have to condemn a whole group of people simply for being in a certain denomination when we can’t see into their hearts?
Do we have to become angry, abusive, insulting, and hurtful when someone believes something different than we do?
Do we really have to have arguments and debates that are unprofitable and bring out the ugliness in our hearts?
Do we have to be so hard hearted and so prideful that we can’t even pray for a brother or a sister in need, even if we don’t agree with them?
Whether you realize it or not, the world watches us. We are always on mission no matter where we are.
There is not supposed to be any schism in the body of Christ.
What are we doing? And where is the love toward one another that Jesus commanded us to have?
We don’t have time for this! The tribulation is at the door, and Jesus is coming back soon!
1 Corinthians 12:24-26 KJV
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked. 25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
Titus 3:9 KJV
9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
2 Corinthians 12:20 KJV
20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
1 Corinthians 3:1-3 KJV
1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
Matthew 7:1-5 KJV
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
James 3:5-10 KJV
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Mark 7:20-23 KJV
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
John 13:34-35 KJV
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Ephesians 4:31-32 KJV
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
2 Peter 3:17-18 KJV
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
