The Cost of Grace
There are 3 characteristics that define life:
1. Judgement- Getting or giving what we deserve for sin.
2. Mercy- Withholding of judgment for sin
3. Grace- Withholding of judgment and giving someone something wonderful they didn’t earn or deserve.
“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.”
Hosea 6:6 KJV
“But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.”
Matthew 12:7 KJV
God causes the sun to fall upon those who love Him and those who are indifferent, confused, or hate Him.
“that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”
Matthew 5:45 KJV
God is amazing and for that He is taken for granted by most people today. He is patient and long suffering wanting everyone to repent and trust in Him.
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9 KJV
Grace is free yet costs us everything.
“and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart,
and with all thy soul,
and with all thy mind,
and with all thy strength:
this is the first commandment.”
Mark 12:30 KJV
“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”
2 Corinthians 9:15 KJV
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Ephesians 2:8 KJV
“But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:7 KJV
Grace does not exist in any other religion except Christianity. In every other system here is how it goes. Some try and make Christianity like every other religion.
1. Here are the rules
2. If you keep them well enough according to our leaders or hierarchy then maybe you will be good enough to get into heaven.
What was supposed to be a beautiful relationship with God becomes this ugly and oppressive set of rules, restrictions, regulations and rites to make us “good enough”
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
James 2:10 KJV
Grace cost God His only Son Jesus His life on the cross. He rose from the dead but think of the immensity of God under no obligation to pay for our sins yet allowing His Son to die for us.
That is grace.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 KJV
No one is required to:
Repent
Believer in Jesus Christ
Receive the gift of eternal life
But just know there is not an alternative way to get to God.
What will you do with the incomparable gift of grace offered to you today?
Blessings
-Daniel
