If you are a devout follower of Jesus, you will have joy in Him. You will also have a heart to share the Gospel with the unlearned lost.
Yes - it is also true that you will also have a bit of anxiety/despair/anger towards those who go to church and who “say” they are Christians, but are not. They have no evidences that God spoke of to prove their false proclamation.
By using just the Bible, read what God said. This is what the Apostle Paul calls “testing & examine ourselves to see if we are really honestly saved.” 2nd Cor 13:5
Begin:
- 2nd Cor 4:10
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
- 2nd Cor 12:9 (combine with James 5:16)
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
- Matthew 7:16
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
- Matthew 15:8
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
- Matthew 16:25
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
- Matthew 23:33
33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
- 2nd Cor 4:10
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
- 2nd Cor 13:5
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
- 1st Cor 3:13
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
- 2nd Cor 4:10
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
- Php 2:12
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
- Php 3:10
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
- Second Tim 4:3
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
- James 2:18
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
- First John 1:6
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
- Revelation 20:12
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
All of these scripture tie into what Jesus said in Luke 6:46 (read)
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Tip: Drop the tanning session or gym or party, concert, church ice cream night and spend an hour just reading and praying to the Author as you read these scriptures above. You have no time to wait.
Paul says to “test yourself to see if you are really saved”. I encourage all of you to do this.
Pray this:
“Lord you know me better than I know myself. Am I a fake? Do I follow you more than the “patterns” & enjoying the things of this world ? Have I blocked out people and writings that are mere attempts to open my eyes that I may be truly Saved and not one of those church people out the many, that you say “Depart from me”? God when I show you my Christian church fun and activities, will you look away until I do like Paul and show you my wounds and marks that I got by following you? I don’t have any wounds as everybody likes me.
Have I “joined with and suffered” with you Jesus like you said true Christians will do?
Paul spoke bad things about himself showing his weakness, and confessed sin to others after confessing to you. I speak of movies, excitement, and then is it so Lord that my beliefs are so soft that I throw out any warnings to help truly save me?
Lord am I truly dead to everything in this world and everything about me and in me? Are you ruling and making all of my decisions and plans, or is it me, pretending that it is you? Lord even today may it be my final day, am I one of the few in my church that are saved or as you said, am I one of the many who will call out & sing to you “Jesus, Jesus”, and that you will then turn to and say “go way for I never truly knew you?”
KEY: Remember that being convicted by any of this, gives you zero right to take a verse about thinking (or hoping) that you are saved, out of context to imagine that you are saved - and in doing do - cancel out alll of these scriptures. These “proof of salvation” scriptures are solid our words from God to help you, as Paul said (2 Cor 13:5) to Test yourself, as Paul said “to see if you are really saved”.
